Recessed EX3 Silvers, Cardas wire and posts, textured black granite on the 1" super-refined MDF, aniline based rosewood dye on the white oak. This transparent stain does not hide the grain like MinWax which in a dark color has too many pigments and solids giving a muddy look. You may have noticed I extended the sidepanels behind the oak standings vertically down to the base. This permits the cabinet to stand on its own before the oak is fitted. It also eliminates that little triangle between the bottom of the grill and the oak which is a very efficient dust collector.

The drivers are Lowthers DX3. Construction is from multiple layers (up to 30-32mm thick) of white oak veneered plywood 3,2mm thick! I can tell you it is quite a job to bend these. Side panel is MDF 25mm+ one layer of 3,2mm plywood. The front baffle is also multiple layers of plywood but totalising 42mm thick. Of course I think they are beautiful! The look is a bit different as from the others; the side supports are integral to the side panels and are raised further up to help reinforcing the sides at compression chambers level. Heavy chamfers sideways to help imaging, also the driver is flush mounted on the front baffle.

A custom made pair of Hedlund Horns, (made by Paul LaMarre Custom Woodworking, in Basking Ridge, NJ), using AER drivers, The best speakers I have heard, maybe ? The AER's are still breaking in after 50 hrs !
All birch ply. Except side support legs/panels, cherry hard core mdf. I am still playing with damping, using Deflex on bottom part behind driver, 1/8" beaten wool felt on the upper back face. Maybe thats good. By the way the guy who built mine will build more as he has the forms now !

Cables by Stealth, "the best I have heard that don't need a mortgage, to buy". 30 day trial, (sold Alpha Core Sapphires for these.)

My Hedlunds have been a project of mine for about two years, where the design, appearance, as well as sonics, have undergone countless revisions. In order to achieve a rounded appearance as well as rear support stand replacing the side supports (The Carfrae "Little Big Horn" was my guidance here) thicker material and internal bracing was required for structural integrity.
I am using AER-bd (from Bert Doppenberg) drivers and I am still experimenting with optimal back chamber design. Beneath the main driver is a Raven 2 ribbon tweeter (inserted into the empty chamber below the main driver and hidden by the grille cloth) that runs in parallel with the main driver from 4kHz and up. A passive correctional network is also applied to the AER driver. The only internal damping used is the mouth area that is lined with felt.
The speakers are painted in high gloss automotive titanium metallic finish.
Although my speakers is still a work in progress I am very pleased with them and in my opinion better than most speakers that I have heared.
